Mikhail LARIONOV (1881–1964) A letter in Russian and its envelope addressed to Jurgis Jurgissovitch Baltruchaïtis (1903–1988), dated February 3, 1929, in which paintings by “Georges” are mentioned—most likely Georges IAKOULOV (1884–1928): “I forgot to give you * during our last meeting—just in case I don’t see you before I leave, ask the redhead or his brothers how to go about receiving the gift that Zdatevil mentioned. And what should I do with these four paintings by Georges? Please explain that, in the absence of a letter from me, these works by Georges cannot be considered a gift. Perhaps the redhead knows something about this—in any case, I would like to have these paintings by Georges delivered to their intended destination, but I simply don’t know where. Yours, M. Larionov P.S. Besides the curator, there is another claimant to his works: Madame Balasheva, née Miller-Brezhneva. Please ask what to do in this case as well. It would be good if his relatives wrote to me about this, at least through you—“MC Provenance -Jurgis Kasimirovich Baltruchaïtis (1873–1944), Lithuanian diplomat and poet. -Their son, Jurgis Jurgissovich Baltruchaïtis (1903–1988), historian. -His wife, Hélène Baltruchaïtis (1908–2004), née Castel-Focillon, daughter of Henri Focillon (1881–1943). -And then through their descendants.
