Italian School, 18th century. "David and Abigail." Oil on panel. Measurements: 30 x 20 cm; 45 x 36 cm (frame). In the composition, Abigail is shown kneeling in a submissive pose before a young David, as she offers him provisions laid out on the ground. Behind her, the figure of a donkey carrying the load can be seen, as described in the inscription. The work shares the characteristic drama, use of light, and dynamism typical of the transitional period between the late Baroque and Venetian Rococo, featuring loose brushwork and an atmospheric background landscape.
