Excerpt from the two albums "Les hommes que j'aime; Les hommes que je n'aime pas" (The Men I Love; The Men I Don’t Love) from the collector’s collection. Print of a photograph of the famous French actor Alain Delon talking on the phone. Below it, a handwritten quote: “I don’t like his wedding ring, I don’t like his overly groomed hair, I don’t like the painting behind him.” Inscribed at the bottom: “Extrait de: ‘les hommes que je n’aime pas’,” labeled and dated “1972.” In the 1970s, Messager was repeatedly drawn out into the world—in search of images, objects, photographs, and words that she once collected in her apartment. Over the course of two years, she created 56 collections. Each one comprehensively documents its theme. Signs of wear due to age. The edges of the sheet are partially browned and stained. The frame is scuffed. See photos for condition.
