Johann Joachim Kaendler (1706-1775), Large Mantel Clock, Meissen, Crossed Swords Mark, First Quality Large mantel clock from the Meissen porcelain manufactory, based on a design from around 1770 by Johann Joachim Kaendler (model no. 1047). Impressive case with masterfully crafted filigree floral decoration and rocaille typical of the Rococo period. The fully sculpted figure group below the enameled dial depicts a dancing couple flanked by two musicians. Overall, the clock makes a very striking impression, not least due to the lavish, crowning bouquet of flowers in intense colors. Underglaze blue crossed swords mark, used between 1815 and 1924, first quality. Height approx. 68 cm. Good condition commensurate with its age; some leaves slightly chipped, a few petals reattached, the dial lightly dotted and color-matched in places.
