Alain Jacquet (1939–2000) Estafettes, 1969 Two mixed-media works on paper, signed and dated lower right 38 x 55 cm Provenance: Galerie le clos de Sierne, Daniel Varenne, Geneva Acquired from the gallery by the current owner in 2013 Nancy Varenne-Brunot Collection Expertise Information: We thank the Alain Jacquet Committee for the additional information provided and for confirming the authenticity of the works. Additional Information: The Estafette was not an arbitrary choice for Jacquet: as the most iconic industrial object of everyday French life, it served as the ideal medium (both literally and figuratively) for continuing his long-standing exploration of how mass-produced images and objects permeate the collective imagination. Its flat, stamped sheet metal panels were also perfectly suited to his screen-printing process, which involved enlarging an image until it dissolved into a pure grid of dots. Other works from this series will also be featured in the inaugural exhibition *Moteur Imaginaire* at the new Le Large art center, which will open its doors in October.
