A large pair of ovoid Chinese porcelain vases with ruby-red bases, decorated with a “Famille Rose” enamel painting of chrysanthemum sprigs and reserved areas adorned with roosters, birds, and foliage on a chiseled and gilded bronze mount in the Louis XVI style, with a button handle and a base featuring an acanthus leaf frieze. The set is bordered at the foot and shoulder by bands featuring green latticework motifs punctuated by floral cartouches. The vases are likely from the Yongzheng period (1723–1735); the lids were replaced in the 19th century, and the mountings date from the 19th century. H. 66 cm - D. 35 cm (restorations, wear) A piece similar to these vases, from the G.L. Brevan collection, but smaller, is reproduced in Gorer and Blacker, *Chinese Porcelain and Hard Stones*, vol. II, p. 201.
