With 300 (probably out of 342) partly border-colored engraved and lithographic maps. (Glogau, Fleming, ca. 1860). Folio. The maps bear the blind stamp of the General Staff in Berlin and, with the exception of those in the seventh folder, each has a number tab. The monumental map, depicting the territory of the German Empire and neighboring countries, was created for military use by several cartographers. The work was begun under the title “Topographic Special Map of Germany, Switzerland, Eastern France, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Poland” and continued as “Topographic Special Map of Central Europe” by C.W. von Oesfeld and F. Handtke. - The portfolios bear former school library labels and stamps. The overview sheet is heavily browned and stained, with a small corner loss; it is mounted on cardboard.
