328 - Marco Marino

Marco Marino Lampshade Table lamp Marble Up & Up Edition H21 L24 P9 cm With a seemingly tautological title, “Lampshade,” Marco Marino takes the most mundane element of a lamp and makes it the subject of the work. Produced by Up & Up, a company known for its collaborations with architects and designers working with stone, the piece plays on the contrast between its familiar form and its execution. Its small size and shallow depth make it an object to place on a shelf or console table, straddling the line between lighting fixture and sculpture. A postmodern piece in which humor and allusion take precedence over function.
