Simone Negri (1970) Accadimento #182 Sculpture Ceramic and cobalt oxide 2025 H36 L36 P9 cm Born in 1970, Simone Negri has made the Accadimento series—“event”—the centerpiece of his work: each numbered piece is created through a gesture applied to the clay—a fold, pressure, or tear—which is then set by firing. This piece, No. 182, created in 2025, combines ceramic with cobalt oxide, whose deep blue highlights the irregularities of the surface. Its thin profile gives it a frontal presence, somewhere between a bas-relief and a freestanding object. The work is part of the dialogue between ceramics and informal abstraction, a tradition cherished in Italy.
