Maria Lindegaard Henningsen (born 1986) Unicorn Vase Sculpture Polychrome glazed stoneware 2021 H43 D12 A sculptural vase in glazed stoneware, created in 2021. Straddling the line between vessel and sculpture, “Unicorn Vase” transports the form of the vase into a fantastical realm. Danish artist Maria Lindegaard Henningsen has developed a practice in which ornamentation, irregularity, and figurative forms take center stage. Drawing inspiration from the world of fairy tales, her work explores the fragility and transience of life. Ceramics play a key role in this exploration: their physical presence is accompanied by a vulnerability that gives the sculptures their distinctive tension.
