263 - Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret

Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret Standardized N.V. bedroom cabinet Clarté Building, Geneva, circa 1932 H180 W50 D50 cm Within the architectural polychromy, grays serve to connect and balance, highlighting the brighter colors without dominating them. This wardrobe from the Clarté apartment building illustrates this principle: a light medium-gray body—elegant and neutral—rests on a very dark gray, almost black, base that emphasizes its volume through contrast. A light-colored vertical handle adds rhythm to the door. This standardized furniture, designed by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret to furnish the apartments, reflects their vision of a modern, rational, and light-filled living space, where every element contributes to the architecture.
