Matteo Thun (born in 1952) Lamp "Vasi da Colorare" Collection Partially glazed ceramic Alessio Sarri Edition, Prototype Bears the artist’s studio stamp on the underside (incised): “Matteo Thun Atelier.” Date of creation: 2015 H70.5 Ø18 cm A founding member of the Memphis group alongside Ettore Sottsass in 1981, Matteo Thun began his career working with ceramics before becoming one of Italy’s most prolific architects and designers. With the Vasi da colorare collection—“vases to color”—he returned to this original medium in 2015, in collaboration with Alessio Sarri’s Tuscan studio. The glaze, applied to only part of the surface, leaves the clay exposed elsewhere, like a partially filled page. As a prototype, this lamp bears the designer’s studio stamp.
