Grond Studio Baptist Chair Cast plaster and marble chips 2023 H20 L23 P23 cm A small, low seat with a compact form, Baptist derives its character from the interplay of two materials: plaster, cast in a single operation, and the marble chips embedded within it. The distribution of the fragments, determined by the casting process itself, is partly beyond the designer’s control, making each piece unique. This process evokes the techniques of terrazzo and granito, scaled down to the size of a single object. A piece that exemplifies Grond Studio’s approach, centered on basic materials and their transformation.
