Grond Studio Catena Totem Sculptural column Rammed earth, metal structure 2025 H 168 L 24 D 24 cm Standing nearly two meters tall, this column is part of the Catena series—meaning “chain” in Latin and Italian—which explores the interconnection of modular elements. Grond Studio—whose name means “ground” or “earth” in Dutch—uses rammed earth, a building material with a history stretching back millennia, supported by a discreet metal structure. The totem, the quintessential vertical and ritual form, becomes here an element of interior architecture. The matte and slightly irregular surface of the unfired, raw earth retains the traces of its creation.
