Kazuo TAKIGUCHI (born in 1953) Untitled Vase Glazed ceramic Date of creation: circa 2010 One-of-a-kind piece, comes with its box H37.5 D26 cm Slender and vertical, this vase by Kazuo Takiguchi takes on a form reminiscent of a stele or a single-flower vase, with a depth of only eight centimeters. The clay, worked into thin sheets, retains the suppleness and undulations characteristic of the artist, who seeks to reveal the very nature of the clay rather than impose a form upon it. The glaze highlights the folds and tensions of the surface. Presented with its box, in accordance with Japanese custom, it offers a window into the work of a renowned ceramicist on the contemporary Japanese scene.
