172 - Marco Tirelli

Marco Tirelli Untitled Two sculptures—volume, architectural installation Bronze, wooden pedestal One-of-a-kind pieces Date of creation: 2013 H32 L50 P50 cm A Roman painter associated with the San Lorenzo art scene in the 1980s, Marco Tirelli devotes his work to elementary geometric forms—cubes, spheres, and architectural volumes—which he brings to life through the interplay of light and shadow. These two bronze sculptures transpose the silent volumes of his paintings into physical space. Set upon their wooden pedestals, they form an installation in which the relationship between the two pieces is as significant as each piece individually. A rare work within an essentially pictorial body of work, situated at the intersection of Italian metaphysical art and geometric abstraction.
