Albert and Pyot Thiry Trinket dish with zoomorphic decoration depicting a bird Glazed ceramic Circa 1960 H 11.6, W 8 cm In very good original condition Based in Vallauris, Albert and Pyot Thiry were part of the village’s golden age of ceramics in the 1950s and 1960s, alongside Pablo Picasso, Roger Capron, Jean Derval, and the Madoura studio. Their work is recognizable by its stylized and whimsical animal motifs, which transform utilitarian objects into small sculptures. This bird-shaped trinket dish is a prime example: the animal form gives the object its structure while lending it a playful quality. A charming testament to the vibrant ceramic scene on the French Riviera.
