Juliette Teste Flower Basket 4 (The Queen’s Hamlet) Sculpture Stoneware, sand, engobe, glaze 2026 H23 L22 P13 cm 1.5 kg For decorative use only The title refers to the Hameau de la Reine, an idealized rustic village that Marie-Antoinette had built in Versailles beginning in 1783, complete with thatched-roof cottages, a mill, and a dairy. Juliette Teste draws on the idea of a dreamlike, rustic architecture, which she translates into stoneware. Sand mixed with clay, engobe, and glaze give the surface a contrasting texture, ranging from roughness to gloss. A recent sculpture that plays with historical and decorative memory, in an intimate format, at the intersection of a model and a poetic object.
