Helen Vergouwen (1960) Bloc Sculpture Wood Limited edition 2023 H30 L21 D18 cm With its extremely understated title, *Bloc* returns sculpture to one of its most basic forms: a volume of wood whose material, grain, and mass constitute the subject. Helen Vergouwen prioritizes the object’s presence over any narrative, in the spirit of minimalist sculpture and the tradition of woodcarving. The natural grain and nuances enliven the surface and make each piece unique, even within a limited edition.
