Fabrice Ausset Silvering Inox Bench Seat and backrest in polished, domed stainless steel Legs and base in smoked Altuglas Year created: 2012 H64.4 W226 D54.1 cm With Silvering Inox, Fabrice Ausset defies expectations associated with metal: stainless steel, a rigid and cold material, takes on the appearance of a plump, supple, and almost organic cushion. The mirror-like polish multiplies reflections and blurs the contours of the seat, which appears to float above a visually lightweight smoked Altuglas structure. This interplay between actual weight and apparent lightness, between industrial material and soft form, places the piece at the heart of contemporary collection design. At over two meters long, the bench makes a truly sculptural statement.
