Carlo Giorgi Rabarbaro Floor Lamp Brass Produced by Bottega Gadda, Milan, Italy Year: 1971 H 170 L 49 D 47 cm Carlo Giorgi designed a series of light fixtures inspired by the plant world for Bottega Gadda, a Milanese workshop specializing in brasswork. The Rabarbaro, meaning “rhubarb” in Italian, belongs to this family: large brass leaves, cut and curved, bloom at the top of a stem and diffuse light through reflection. The design reflects the 1970s taste for stylized nature, serving as a counterpoint to the radical design then dominant in Milan. The hand-crafted brass gives the piece its warm luster.
