Marta Raimundo, Ateliê da Esquina Architecturally shaped sculpture Ceramic Circa 2020 H25 L22 P22 cm Firing cracks and slight original chips on the feet This sculpture approaches ceramics from a structural perspective: pillars, planes, and openings come together to form a volume reminiscent of a miniature building, somewhere between a temple and a pavilion. The feet, upon which the entire piece rests, accentuate this architectural interpretation and give the work a light, airy base. The firing cracks, inherent to the manufacturing process, reveal the creative process. This work is part of the dialogue between ceramics and architecture that runs through much of contemporary art.
