Grond Studio SIide table Side table Charred and rammed oak 2025 H24 L168 P24 cm In Dutch, “grond” means “ground” or “earth”: the studio’s name signals a practice rooted in basic materials and their transformation. The Slide Table combines three contrasting textures: the charred surface of burnt wood, reminiscent of the Japanese yakisugi technique; the distinct grain of oak; and the matte texture of raw earth. The title evokes a sense of fluidity between the elements, giving this side table a unique, off-kilter composition. A recent piece, representative of contemporary collection design that embraces raw materials and traditional craftsmanship.
