The carving of the surface complements the wheel-throwing process, giving the vessel a sculptural quality. Born in Herning, Denmark, Anders Børgesen turned to ceramics after training to become an art teacher. He cites the influence of Axel Salto, Arne Bang, and the Saxbo studio, among others. His pieces combine simple forms with surfaces worked through incisions, indentations, and reliefs. Inspired by both nature and architecture, these motifs are executed freehand; the glaze emphasizes their rhythm and reveals the material.
