38 - Guido de Zan

Guido de Zan Paesaggio Semi-abstract sculpture Stoneware Date of creation: circa 2020 H11 L24 P9 cm The title, “Landscape,” provides the key to understanding this vertical sculpture: strata, planes, and breaks that evoke a condensed relief on a hand-sized scale. Guido de Zan works with stoneware as if it were a geological material, leaving visible the traces of its shaping and the variations resulting from firing. The form hovers between abstraction and evocation, like a fragment of a mountain placed on a shelf. An intimate piece, in the size of a library object.
