6 - Willem van Hooff

Willem van Hooff Core Vessel Tall I Chocolate Vase Hand-thrown, glazed by the artist, double-fired One-of-a-kind piece H60 L30 cm Water-resistant The Core Vessel series reduces the vase to its core: a solid, smooth, almost geological volume, from which the opening seems to emerge through erosion rather than by turning. In this tall version—the most slender in the series—the 60-centimeter vertical silhouette asserts the presence of a domestic sculpture. The deep, slightly satiny chocolate glaze is crafted by the artist himself, giving each piece a unique surface. A one-of-a-kind piece in the tradition of contemporary ceramics that emphasizes mass, color, and the artist’s touch.
