David Weiss – Untitled (Two Women by the Pool) Untitled (Two Women by the Pool) Four scratch-back drawings in oil pastel. Circa 1978. 9.7 x 14.4 cm to 10.8 x 16.5 cm. Unmarked. (2) A very beautiful sequence from the series of Neocolor drawings, in which the artist scrapes the drawing out of a layer of black to reveal the underlying colors. The motif of the two women by the pool appears frequently in the group of works created between 1978 and 1980; however, in the series gathered here, despite the small scale and casual nature of the depiction, the great technical precision is evident, which lends the works their special charm. - Each has minor mounting residue on the reverse and is overall very well preserved. - From the estate of Hans Schärer, Lucerne. 9.7 x 14.4 cm to 10.8 x 16.5 cm. David Weiss (Zurich 1946 – 2012 Zurich)
