JAUME PLENSA (Barcelona, 1955). "Arcano" 2007. Etching, lithography and embossing on somerset paper, copy 72/100. Signed and justified by hand. Measurements: 70 x 49 cm. Plensa displays in this graphic work one of his most recognizable themes: the relationship between the human face, language and identity. In this composition, a female image is intervened by the word "CAGE", which acts as a veil and symbolic structure, while the descending lines dilute the figure in space, generating a sensation of dissolution and silence. Jaume Plensa has developed an extensive international career, with outstanding exhibitions such as the retrospective held at the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in 2000. He has received important awards, among them the National Prize of Plastic Arts of the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Medal of Knight of Arts and Letters of the French Ministry of Culture. His work is part of important international collections and museums such as the MoMA in New York, the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid and the MACBA in Barcelona.
