Hanhart - Luftwaffe A collection of 2 Hanhart chronographs from the Luftwaffe A rare vintage single-push-button chronograph from the Luftwaffe Movm. No. 107043, Cal. 40, Case No. 107043, Dimensions 41 mm, circa 1941, Origin: Germany Case: Base metal, matte finish, steel screw-down back. Dial: Black, skeleton hands with luminous material. Movement: Manual. The distinctive design of Hanhart watches is gaining increasing popularity among lovers of vintage military timepieces. There are many reasons for this, including the fluted rotating bezel, the distinctive pilot’s crown, and the reset button, which is often red. Action hero Steve McQueen also helped boost the popularity of this robust watch. Due to their reliability and accuracy, Hanhart wrist chronographs were used by the German Luftwaffe and Navy during World War II. The watch was available in many different variants, with one or two pushers, and with or without a rotating bezel. Hanhart presumably began production in 1939 and based the model on the Hanhart Caliber 40, which was based on a Landeron chronograph movement. Caliber 41, featuring twin pushers and flyback functionality, was introduced around 1941. This single-pusher chronograph does not have a rotating bezel. The case shows signs of aging; the crown and pushers have been replaced and are of more recent origin. The dial is original, as is the slightly darkened luminous material on the Arabic numerals and the skeleton hands. Case: good, oxidized, worn. Dial: very good, oxidized. Movement: needs restoration. Please note that leather straps made from endangered or protected species—such as alligator, crocodile, or lizard—are used in our catalog or on our website for illustrative purposes only. For customs-related reasons, such straps cannot be shipped outside the EU.
