Breitling - Chrono-Matic A charismatic vintage wrist chronograph with a pulse scale and date Ref. 2112-15, Cal. 15, Case No. 1311299, Dimensions 38 mm, circa 1969, Origin: Switzerland Case: Steel, screw-down back, bidirectional rotating black bezel with 60-minute scale, crown on the left; steel bracelet, total length 195 mm. Dial: Black. Movement: Automatic. In 1969, Breitling introduced its Chrono-Matic, one of the first automatic chronographs, which also featured a distinctive, edgy design. The movement was developed by the Buren Group, a collaboration between Hamilton, Breitling, and Heuer. A chronograph module by Dubois-Depraz was integrated with the base Caliber 11. This resulted in the crown being positioned on the left side of the case, with the two chronograph pushers remaining in their traditional position on the right. Another distinctive feature is the offset positioning of the chronograph counters and the date window, located slightly to the side of the 6 o’clock position, which gives the watch an avant-garde look. The hours and minutes are displayed on the rotating bezel. The reverse panda dial, featuring light-colored subdials on a black background, ensures excellent readability. The bar hour markers are coated with a luminous material in a vibrant mint green color, creating an exciting contrast to the bright orange hands. The outer tachymeter scale emphasizes the watch’s sporty character. Case: very good, showing signs of wear. Dial: very good. Movement: very good, in working order, cleaning recommended.
