Movement: Automatic. In 1948, Jaeger-LeCoultre introduced a significant horological innovation with Caliber 481: the power reserve indicator (“Réserve de Marche”). The movement was based on the JLC 476—the manufacture’s first automatic caliber—and utilized a traditional oscillating-weight winding system. It was first installed in the Jaeger-LeCoultre Powerwind (Ref. E?163). The concept proved so successful that the product line has continued to this day under names such as Powermatic, Futurematic, and Réserve de Marche. The dial design is distinguished by the power-reserve disc at 12 o’clock, which rotates counterclockwise. Its scale ranges from 0 to 40, with the area below 14 hours marked in red. Case: very good.
