Zenith - Automatic A rare vintage diver's wristwatch with date Ref. A3630, Cal. 2542PC, Case No. 723D915, Dimensions 39 mm, circa 1969, Origin: Switzerland, Original box, Accessories Case: Steel, screw-down back with Zenith logo, bidirectional rotating aluminum bezel with 60-minute scale, folded Zenith/Gay Frères steel bracelet, stamped 1/69, total length 175 mm. Dial: Black. Movement: Automatic. This beautiful Zenith diver’s watch from the late 1960s is one of the rarest Zenith models. The case measures 39 mm, including the black aluminum bezel, which extends beyond the case and is fairly wide. The screw-down case back bears the characteristic Zenith star. The black dial is framed by a white ring with minute markers. In the center, the dial features only the words “ZENITH” and “Automatic” alongside the applied Zenith star. The applied hour markers and the hands—which extend into the white minute ring—are filled with tritium luminous material and have acquired a lovely cream hue through natural aging. The minute hand features a large triangular tip. The date display is positioned between 4 and 5 o’clock. The watch is powered by the excellent in-house Caliber 2542 PC movement (the “C” denotes the version with the semi-quick date function). It was produced from 1964 to 1969 and replaced its predecessor, Caliber 133.8. The date function was added, and the winding system was upgraded from a weighted winding mechanism to a bidirectional winding rotor. The power reserve also increased from 35 to 43 hours. The watch comes with the original vintage Zenith stainless steel bracelet, which is quite rare and has been preserved in excellent condition. Case: very good. Dial: very good. Movement: very good, in working order, cleaning recommended. Please note that leather straps made from endangered or protected species—such as alligator, crocodile, or lizard—are used in our catalog or on our website for illustrative purposes only. For customs-related reasons, such straps cannot be shipped outside the EU.
