Friedrich Christian Schuricht Junior - Dresden Coach Clock An important, very fine Dresden Rococo quarter-repeating coach clock with quarter-hour and hourly chimes, alarm, and date Movm. No. 1, Dimensions 112 mm, circa 1756, Weight 1202 g, Origin Germany, Accessories Case: Silver, openwork on the rim, very finely chased and engraved ornaments, rear bell, string for repetition. Dial: Silver, champlevé, central alarm disc, date window at “6”. Movement: Full-plate movement, chain/fusee for the going train, 3 barrels with floral and geometric engravings for the striking and alarm trains, 4 hammers, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance. The heavy silver case is decorated with marvellously chased rocailles, volutes, and floral tendrils; the case is openworked to emphasize the beautiful sound of the strike. The back is fitted with four winding holes. To ensure the beautiful decoration remains unbroken, four round sliders have been fitted, which artfully conceal the square winding holes and are labeled with their respective functions. According to Jürgen Abeler’s records, the Dresden watchmaker Friedrich Christian Schuricht was born in 1728 and became a master in 1756. He died on September 6, 1792. A pocket watch made by Schuricht is part of the collection of the Mathematical-Physical Salon in Dresden. Case: very good. Dial: very good. Movement: very good, runs, needs cleaning.
