Rolex - Prince "Eaton 1/4 Century Club" (*) A collection of 3 rectangular vintage wristwatches – 1 Rolex, 1 Marvin, and 1 "Gruen" Rolex Prince. A rare and very well-preserved vintage wristwatch with distinctive lugs—a special edition for the Canadian Eaton Group Ref. 3937, Cal. 300, Case No. 746459, Dimensions 22 x 44 mm, circa 1952, Origin: Switzerland Case: 14K gold, push-back clasp marked “Rolex,” engraved serial no. 746459, outer dedication engraving: “Presented to Jacobus Wilhelmus van Roomen to mark a quarter century of continuous service with the T. Eaton Co. Ltd., 1927–1952.” Dial: Two-tone silvered, applied letters “1/4 Century Club” used as hour markers. Movement: Manual-winding. Reference 3937 is one of the last references of the Rolex Prince watch model, known as the “Rams Horn” or “Scroll Lug” model, named for its stylized, curved lug design. The “Eaton 1/4 Century Club” watches were presented to employees of the T. Eaton Co. (a prestigious Canadian department store) in recognition of 25 years of continuous service. Their rarity and collectibility stem from the fact that, almost uniquely among Rolex timepieces, these watches bear no external “Rolex” branding. T. Eaton Co. Ltd. traces its origins to a small department store that Timothy Eaton (1834–1907) opened in Toronto in 1869. The business flourished, and in the years that followed, many more stores were opened throughout Canada. Each store published its own catalog, and by the early 20th century, most families across the country had an Eaton’s catalog in their homes. By that time, the T. Eaton Co. Ltd. had become one of the largest retailers in Canada. Case: very good. Dial: very good. Movement: very good, capable of running, cleaning recommended. Please note that leather straps made from endangered or protected species—such as alligator, crocodile, or lizard—are used in our catalog or on our website for illustrative purposes only. For customs-related reasons, such straps cannot be shipped outside the EU.
