Cartier à Paris - Libre Ceinture A lady's very fine, rare, and elegant neo-vintage wristwatch with a case set with diamonds and sapphires Ref. 78100, Case No. 781004774, Dimensions 25 x 25 mm, circa 1985, Origin: France, Original box, original gold clasp Case: 18K gold, 18K gold caseback secured with screws on the caseband, octagonal crown, bezel set with brilliant-cut diamonds, case set with 14 cut sapphires, silk strap with 18K gold Cartier deployant clasp. Dial: Enamel. Movement: Manual-winding. This extremely rare Cartier “Ceinture” with reference number 78100 is in impeccable condition. Both the dial and the caseback bear the “Paris” designation. Its most striking feature, however, is the exclusive diamond and sapphire decoration on the case. The case shows no damage whatsoever and is in excellent, unpolished condition. The hallmarks on the case back are deep, and the watch has been worn very rarely. The “Ceinture” (ceinture means “belt” in French) was first introduced in 1927 and then reissued in 1973 as part of the Louis Cartier collection in two different case sizes: 25?mm and 27?mm. The following year, a 31?mm version was launched. The “Ceinture” is distinguished by its octagonal case shape and octagonal crown, perfectly framed by the stepped bezel. The model enjoyed particular popularity among artists and designers, including Andy Warhol and Valentino Garavani, the Italian fashion designer and founder of the Valentino brand. Case: very good. Dial: very good. Movement: very good, in working condition, cleaning recommended. Please note that leather straps made from endangered or protected species—such as alligator, crocodile, or lizard—are used in our catalog or on our website for illustrative purposes only. For customs-related reasons, such straps cannot be shipped outside the EU.
