Patek Philippe - Calatrava Amagnetic A highly elegant, antimagnetic vintage Geneva wristwatch Movm. No. 733601, Ref. 3420, Cal. 27-AM 400, Case No. 431965, Dimensions 34 mm, circa 1970, Origin: Switzerland Case: 18K gold, push-back. Dial: Silvered, with enamel scales and lettering. Movement: Manual-winding. Unlike famous antimagnetic watches such as the Rolex Milgauss or the IWC Ingenieur, Patek Philippe’s reference 3420 exudes a rather understated elegance and is quite unostentatious. The 18-karat gold case is unpolished, with clearly visible gold hallmarks, and is fitted with a domed acrylic crystal. The bezel is slim and understated enough to give the impression that the delicately shimmering dial rests directly on the wrist. The lettering and the seconds scale are engraved and enameled in high relief. Reference 3420 was first produced in 1959 and equipped with caliber 12-400. Only a few of these were antimagnetic. In 1960, the antimagnetic caliber 27AM-400 was introduced, featuring a lever escapement made of beryllium bronze. Case: very good, slightly worn. Dial: very good. Movement: very good, in working order, cleaning recommended.
