Patek Philippe - Chronometro Gondolo An extremely rare, very fine Geneva pocket watch with a 24-hour dial and auxiliary seconds hand—delivered to Gondolo & Labouriau Relojoeiros in Rio de Janeiro Movm. No. 181686, Cal. 21''', Case No. 400565, Dimensions 56 mm, circa 1913, Weight 127 g, Origin Switzerland, Original box, Extract from the archives, Accessories Case: 18K rose gold, guilloché pattern and engraved “DB” monogram on the back. Dial: Enamel, 24-hour dial. Movement: Bridge movement, gold wheel train, lever escapement, screw-compensated balance. Between 1902 and 1930, Patek Philippe produced an exclusive collection specifically for renowned Brazilian watch dealers. The prestige of the Patek brand was such that the word “Patek” was regarded as a synonym for any watch, regardless of whether it was made by Patek Philippe or not. These watches feature characteristics such as a 9-carat gold wheel train, wolftooth winding wheels, a cam-type fine-adjustment mechanism, and a counterbalanced “Moustache” lever. Despite the crown-winding mechanism, it is possible to wind the mainspring via the specially manufactured mainspring barrel. Gondolo pocket watches were available in various sizes (16 to 21 lines) and shapes, though they were much rarer. They were also available with either a 12-hour or 24-hour dial. On the 24-hour dial, the hours 6, 12, 18, and 24 (or 0) were marked with red numerals, as is the case with this pocket watch. Case: very good. Dial: very good. Movement: very good, in working order, cleaning recommended.
