Patek Philippe - Nautilus A legendary, very attractive Geneva wristwatch with a central seconds hand and date; from the third edition of the classic Nautilus Midsize, reference 3800 Movm. No. 1930104, Ref. 3800/001, Cal. 330SC automatic, Case No. 2910457, Dimensions 37.5 mm, circa 1992, Origin: Switzerland, Original certificate, Accessories Case: Steel, screw-down bezel, original steel bracelet with deployant clasp, total length 165 mm. Dial: Blue/anthracite-colored sigma dial, “O SWISS O” designation, bar-like texture, applied gold hour markers, and gold baton hands with luminescent material. Movement: Automatic. The successor to the first Nautilus model, Ref. 3700, this slightly smaller Nautilus is the perfect accessory and an absolute joy to wear. It features a beautiful steel case and an excitingly shimmering blue/anthracite dial with a contrasting black date. It is in well-preserved condition, is a first-hand watch, and was purchased in 1992 for 8,750 DM. In 1976, Patek Philippe launched its first Nautilus model. At that time, luxury sports watches were expected to be as thin as possible, so this large watch with its bold ship’s porthole design was a complete novelty. The first model in the collection was the Ref. 3700/1; a Swiss patent was granted for its water-resistant case (up to 120 meters). In 1981, Patek Philippe introduced a slightly updated version of the 3700—a midsize watch with a diameter of 37.5 mm and a central seconds hand—the Ref. 3800 “Nautilus.” While the original Nautilus movement had been a Jaeger-LeCoultre ébauche caliber 28-255 C, this timepiece was fitted with a proprietary, flat automatic movement, caliber 335SC. Reference 3800 was produced in four editions: The first series was produced until 1988 with caliber 335SC, featuring 29 jewels and a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per minute; the series began with movement no. 1,420,000.The second series was produced until 1992 and used the same Caliber 335SC but with an improved date correction system; the series began with movement no. 1,426,000. The third series was produced until 1997 and was equipped with the improved caliber 330 134 (330SC); the series began with movement no. 1,930,000. The fourth and final series was produced until 2006 with the caliber 330 194 (330 SC), featuring 21,600 vibrations per minute; the series began with movement no. 3,020,000. In 2006, Patek Philippe updated the entire Nautilus collection and replaced reference 3800 with the new reference 5800. Case: very good, shows signs of wear, later original crown. Dial: very good, hands are later originals. Movement: very good, in working order, cleaning recommended.
