Hubert Rüther "Taufe Christi". 1920. Hubert Rüther 1886 Dresden – 1945 ebenda Wood cut in colours auf weichem, wolkigen Papier. U.re. in Blei signiert und datiert "Hub. Rüther 20". U.li. bezeichnet "Probedruck". Selten. Maße: Stk. 24,5 x 19,7 cm, Bl. 33 x 24,8 cm. Hubert Rüther 1886 Dresden – 1945 ebenda 1900–04 Lehre als Dekorationsmaler. Ab 1904 Besuch der Königlichen Zeichenschule Dresden. 1908–10 Besuch der Kunstgewerbeschule Dresden. 1911–14 Studium an der Kunstakademie Dresden bei Oskar Zwintscher und Gotthardt Kuehl. 1914–18 als freiwilliger Krankenpfleger im 1. Weltkrieg. Ab 1919 im Meisteratelier bei Otto Gussmann, dort Entstehung von expressiven Aquarellen und Holzschnitten. Ab 1922 längere Studienreisen im In- und Ausland. Ab 1934 Berufsverbot als Maler und Repressionen aufgrund seiner Ehe mit einer Jüdin. 1944 Zwangsarbeit als Metallarbeiter. Stirbt an den Folgen der Repressalien. 1946 Würdigung in der Sonderschau Opfer des Faschismus der Kunstakademie Dresden.
