Alcide Le Beau "La Branche du Prunier" (Morbihan). Um 1906. Alcide Le Beau 1872 Lorient – 1943 Sanary-sur-Mer Kunstausstellung Kühl 1924 Dresden Oil on canvas. Signed bottom left "A le Beau". Verso titled and signed "A le Beau" again. On the strecher frame stamped "Gustave SENNELIER Fabricant – 3. QUAI VOLTAIRE en face du pont S[ain]ts-Pères. Paris". Also on the strechter frame marked "Le Beau", another mark illegible. Label (1934–45) of art exhibition Kühl, Kleine Brüdergasse 21, Dresden, thereon titled and artist-named. Another heavily damaged label, likely of the "Bilderhaus Wiedemann", Karl-Liebknechtstraße 9, Karl-Marx-Stadt (ca. 1953–1975). The striking breton landscape eith its red rocks in the Gulf von Morbihan inspired Alcide Le Beau to further paintings. It is notable that he shows treebranches in the foregraound of many of the there created paintings, to catch the atmosphere and lighting on the canvas. Le Beaus painted works arr dated only briefly. Comparbale in composition and colour are the paintings "Les voiles roses" and "Effet de lumière à travers les branches", both displaeyed in 1906 in the Paris Autumn Salon, see p. 18 and p. 20 in the same book. Maße: 61 x 73 cm, Ra. 69,5 x 82 cm. Alcide Le Beau 1872 Lorient – 1943 Sanary-sur-Mer 1890 Umzug nach Paris. Autodidaktische Ausbildung, später als Kunstlehrer tätig.
