17th century. MANUSCRIPT. (MALLORCA). COLLECTION OF MANUSCRIPTS RELATED TO THE GOVERNMENT AND CIVIL LIFE OF MALLORCA. Small folio. Manuscript on paper. Various documents from the period containing correspondence sent from Mallorca to the royal secretariat. Many are addressed to the queen, the regent Mariana of Austria. The writings reveal the concern of the citizens of Mallorca regarding the banditry they suffer, for which there seems to be no remedy. The names of several officials are listed, such as the public prosecutor (Luis de Espejo García) and a judge of the Royal Court of Mallorca (Nicolás Mora). It also contains copies of documents with instructions for the administration of hospitals in Mallorca (in one document with water stains). It also includes documents regulating the sale of wine in Mallorca, appointments, construction projects on public buildings, and records of grain harvests in various towns across the island (Valldemosa, Porreres, Sóller, Brunyola, Manacor, etc.). Approximately 100 folios covering many different aspects of life in Mallorca. Bound in red morocco leather, with gilt circles on both covers, and a solid spine.
