1623. BOOK. (HAGIOGRAPHY). BERTRAN MARCO, LUIS:. LIFE AND MIRACULOUS DEEDS OF ST. PHILIP NERI, A FLORENTINE CLERGYMAN AND FOUNDER OF THE ORATORY CONGREGATION... Valencia: Felipe Mey, 1623. Large 8vo. 8 leaves + 447 pages + 4 leaves. Woodcut initials and headpieces, two woodcut portraits of the saint, and a large woodcut mark on the verso of the last page. Handwritten ex-libris, one crossed out, on the title page. Bound in parchment, spine labeled. Very rare first edition. Palau (28572) mentions it in a commentary on the second edition, expressing doubt as to whether the first edition is actually from 1623—as attested by the title page of this copy—since he did not see it himself.
