Vol. III: 519 pp. + 2 sheets and 2 folded maps. IV: 2 folios + 434 pp. and one folded plate. Slight signs of rust. Four vols. bound in full period leather, with raised bands, reinforced spines, painted edges, and scuffed corners and edges. Although the work was banned in Spain for fueling the “black legend” regarding Spanish domination and mistreatment of the indigenous peoples in the Americas, translations into Spanish circulated.
