A sheet of 2 folios, text in two columns, and a woodcut engraving of a rooster as the header. Some stains and conservation treatments. It belonged to a composite volume and bears handwritten pagination in the upper corner (fol. 185 and 186). Plain covers in decorative paper with gold accents, bound in recent half-leather. Ex-libris. This copy belonged to the 5th Count of Las Navas (a collector of books on chickens and chief librarian to Alfonso XIII). Palau 34712. We know of no other copy besides this one. There is a first edition from ca. 1590, of which only one copy is known to exist. It belongs to the humorous subgenre of burlesque wills—such as those of the fox or the donkey—in which these animals bequeath absurd amounts of imaginary property to family members and friends.
