1645. BOOK. (AGRICULTURE). HERRERA, ALONSO DE:. GENERAL AGRICULTURE: A TREATISE ON THE CULTIVATION OF THE LAND AND ITS SPECIFIC ASPECTS, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY, THE PROPERTIES OF THE PLANTS CONTAINED THEREIN, AND THEIR BENEFICIAL PROPERTIES FOR HUMAN HEALTH. Madaid (sic.): By Carlos Sanchez, 1645. Large 4º. 4 pp. + 243 folios + 5 pp. + 1 handwritten page with instructions for planting asparagus. Marginal and isolated moisture stains; an oily stain on folios 220–223. Title page with three reconstructed letters of the title, and the text on the reverse. Bound in a stiff period parchment binding with raised bands and painted edges. Palau, in his commentary on 114100, states that he did not see this edition, although other bibliographies do cite it. The colophon erroneously reads “Madaid” instead of “Madrid.” It is a highly prized work, with numerous editions, which are nevertheless scarce on the market.
