1650. BOOK. (HISTORY). MUT, VICENTE:. VOLUME II OF THE HISTORY OF THE KINGDOM OF MALLORCA. Mallorca: House of the Heirs of Gabriel Guasp, 1650. Large 4º. Engraved allegorical title page (remargined) + map of Mallorca + 8 leaves + 564 pages (with pagination errors) + 2 leaves. Margins are somewhat narrow but do not extend to the text block. The last 3 leaves have been re-margined, with no loss of text. Printed in two columns, with marginal notes, initials, and woodcut culs-de-lampe. Bound in half-leather, with leather corners, water-stained cardboard endpapers, 18th-century, mottled edges, and a dried-out spine. Palau 186760. Indicates that it is a rare work. Vicente Mut considers his history of Mallorca to be a continuation of Dameto’s, as he begins in the year 1311—where Dameto left off—and continues through 1650, the year of its publication. Hence, it is labeled “Volume II,” although it is the only volume Mut devoted to the history of his island.
