The background is gilded, and the border is decorated to emulate contemporary cloisonné enamel oklads. The reverse is signed and dated in Cyrillic: 'Painted by Vasiliy Mikhailov Blinichev from the Vladimir Governorate, Vyazniki Uyezd, Kholuy Sloboda. Icon for Father Zosima. September 10, 1866.
