1702-1704 (MILITARY) 1ST ED THE HISTORY OF THE REBELLION, EDWARD HYDE EARL OF CLARENDON, 3 VOLS The History of the Rebellion and the Civil Wars in England is an important work by Edward Hyde, 1st Earl of Clarendon, detailing the history of the English Civil Wars up to the reestablishment of the monarchy under Charles II. Clarendon himself was a key player in the Civil Wars, being involved personally with many of the events detailed in the books, as well as being a close advisor of Charles II, whose brother, the future King James VII & II, married Clarendon's daughter Anne. This series was the first major history of the English Civil Wars written by someone who had actually participated in them directly. This is a complete 3 volume, First Edition set published between 1702-1704 and printed at the Theater in Oxford. Each volume retains their full-page engraving of Edward Hyde opposite the title page, as well as their dedication to Queen Anne, the grand daughter of the author. Dimensions: Each Book: 16 x 10 1/4 in., (40.6 x 26 cm.) Condition: Original boards detached but present. All pages appear to be present. Some light foxing and some old water staining in places, but all text is legible. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
