Mentioned in the letter are Prince Ivan Paskevich, the Zaporozhian Cossack Field Marshal of the Russian military and Namiestnik (Vice-Roy) of Poland, who Wellesley refers to as "a good looking, cunning-eyed Tartar", Emperor Nicholas I, and his speech to the Deputation at Moscow, and the King of Prussia, who he describes sending 6000 troops to the aid of the Czar, though he says that the troops are unhappy to be sent at the behest of Russia. Besides these and other military matters, he discusses a wedding of one of Charlotte's daughters as well as some other friendly topics, including his studies of the German language and his representing Viscount Palmerston as a beast in old fables. 2 Letters in 4 Leaves. 2nd letter with postmarks and remnants of red wax seal.
