A RARE RUSSIAN C. 18TH CENTURY GRENADIER MITRE MILITARY HAT A rare example of an 18th century Russian grenadier's mitre cap, decorated with polished brass sheets, a radiant face at top in brass, and the Imperial Russian double-headed eagle with St. George and the Dragon at center in black, the sword and scepter being held in its talons. The top ends in a ball shaped finial, while the non brass elements of the helmet are painted red. Imperial Russia, c. 18th century. Dimensions: H: 12 1/2 in., (31.8 cm.) Condition: Dents and scratches throughout, as is expected for these rare survivals. Sun and eagle slightly loose but still well attached. Please make all inquiries before bidding.
